Yes, you call and make a consultation appointment, or do it in person, where you will talk about what you want, what your expectations are, if they are realistic and possible, how the surgery is, what type of anesthesia will be used (local, general, etc), the cost, payment options; maybe he will take a “before” picture of you, so you can compare it to your nose after the surgery, and he might even have computer imaging software that he can load the picture into, and show you how your nose would look after the operation…. You will also see if you like the doctor-does he make you feel comfortable, do you trust him? and you will talk about the recovery process-who is going to accompany you to the hospital, drive you home, take care of you, when you get your bandages off…..
Then you can schedule an appointment for your surgery if you want this doctor to do it for you. After your surgery, about a week later, you will have a post-op appointment, to see how your nose is doing, get your bandages off, etc. You might also have another follow up appointment a couple of months later.
